Seeks PM-USHA funds for Kakatiya University, Rs.10 crore for archaeological museum, and NIELIT, CITD and full-fledged Passport Seva Kendra in Warangal

Warangal MP Dr Kadiyam Kavya met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on Friday and submitted representations seeking the State government’s intervention in securing central funds and establishing key institutions in the region.
The proposals include the release of funds under the PM-USHA scheme for Kakatiya University, a Rs.10 crore grant for the development of the archaeological museum at Warangal Fort, the establishment of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and Central Institute of Tool Design (CITD) centres in Warangal, and the setting up of a full-fledged Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).
PM-USHA funds for Kakatiya University
Dr Kavya urged the Chief Minister to take up the matter with the Centre and ensure the early sanction and release of funds proposed under the PM-USHA scheme for Kakatiya University.
She said the funding would help strengthen the university’s academic programmes, research facilities and infrastructure while improving opportunities for students and researchers.
Rs.10 crore sought for archaeological museum
The MP requested the Chief Minister to coordinate with the Union Government to secure a grant of Rs.10 crore from the Union Ministry of Culture for the development of the archaeological museum at Warangal Fort.
She pointed out that the existing museum building, established in 1991, had deteriorated. Although construction of a new museum building was completed in May 2023, several works, including the shifting and preservation of artefacts, display facilities, security arrangements and climate control systems, were still required.
As revised guidelines for the Museum Grant Scheme for 2026–31 were awaited, she urged the State government to coordinate with the Centre and facilitate the submission of the proposal.
NIELIT centre to expand technology training
Dr Kavya sought the establishment of a National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) centre in Warangal, noting that the institution currently had a centre only in Hyderabad.
She said a Warangal centre would provide students and unemployed youth from the region and neighbouring districts access to government-recognised training and certification in information technology, electronics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and the Internet of Things (IoT).
CITD centre to support technical skills and industries
The MP also urged the Chief Minister to facilitate the establishment of a Central Institute of Tool Design (CITD) centre in Warangal through coordination with the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
She said the proposed centre would benefit engineering, ITI and polytechnic students, skilled youth and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The centre could provide training in advanced technical fields such as tool and die design, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM), CNC machining, mould making, precision engineering, robotics, automation and 3D printing. It would also extend technical support to local industries.
Full-fledged Passport Seva Kendra sought
Dr Kavya urged the Chief Minister to take up with the Union Ministry of External Affairs the establishment of a full-fledged Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) in Warangal in place of the existing Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).
She noted that the POPSK, established on March 29, 2017, had been providing passport services to residents, but the demand for such services had increased.
Residents were facing difficulties in travelling to Karimnagar and Secunderabad to avail themselves of Tatkaal passport services, she said.
The MP sought a full-fledged PSK with adequate infrastructure and staff to serve the tri-city region of Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet, as well as people from the erstwhile Warangal district.
Dr Kavya urged the Chief Minister to take the initiative on behalf of the State government to secure central assistance for improving educational, technical and skill development opportunities for students, youth and researchers, expanding access to central government services, and preserving the historical heritage of the Kakatiya dynasty.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari also met the Chief Minister along with Dr Kavya and sought funds for the development of his constituency.
According to Dr Kavya, the Chief Minister responded positively to the proposals and assured her that the State government would discuss the issues with the concerned departments, coordinate with the Centre and take necessary steps soon.
